The Nani starrer Hit: The Third Case released on Thursday, to great box-office figures and mixed reviews. While Nani’s performance received positive reviews, among the few aspects of the film receiving a lukewarm response was the background score by Mickey J Meyer. On Friday, the renowned composer took to social media to thank his team, while also offering his opinion on the significance of music in an actioner like Hit 3.

The composer posted on his X page, “So happy with the success of Hit 3. Congrats Nani sir and Sailesh Kolanu. Both were instrumental in demanding a score that is mood based and not the usual loud. Such attempts are risky but it paid off!”

Further sharing his thoughts on the use of background score in movies, Mickey added, “My purpose in scoring is in the word itself. Background score, be at the back… not scream at the front!! unless required! takes time, i am ready to risk it all to get to a new zone of scoring! But again, i have always rebelliously walked in the opposite direction of how things are done in the industry! I love it!”

During a recent press meet, Nani said about signing Mickey for the movie, “People remember some composers as specialists for thriller movies, because they have given score of plenty of films in that genre. Mickey, however, has never done a thriller. So we had a chance to bring a new sound to Hit 3.”

Mickey J Meyer, who has been active in Telugu cinema for 20 years, has composed iconic music for movies like Happy Days, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, and Mahanati among many others. Hit 3 only marks the second collaboration between him and Nani, after Shyama Singha Roy.
