Pawan Kalyan has congratulated veteran actor Kamal Haasan on being selected as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 2025. The announcement, made earlier this week, marks a significant recognition of Haasan’s contribution to global cinema.
In a statement on social media, Pawan Kalyan wrote, “It is a moment of immense pride to Indian film industry that Padma Bhushan Thiru Kamal Haasan has been selected as a member of the prestigious The Academy Awards 2025 committee.”
Praising Haasan’s long career, he added, “With a phenomenal acting career spanning six decades, Kamal Haasan garu is more than an actor. His cinematic brilliance as an actor, storyteller, and director, along with his versatile talent and decades of experience, have made a lasting impact on Indian and global cinema.”
Kalyan also highlighted Haasan’s range across disciplines, saying, “His exceptional command over every aspect of filmmaking as a writer, singer, director, producer, and actor is truly inspiring. He is a true master of the craft. I extend heartfelt congratulations and wish him many more years of impactful service to world cinema.”
Haasan, who was last seen in Thug Life, joins the list of Indian artistes invited to the Academy’s voting body in recent years. The Academy has been increasingly focused on broadening its international representation.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan is set to return to the big screen with Hari Hara Veera Mallu, scheduled to release on July 24. The historical action film is directed by AM Jyothi Krishna, with Krish Jagarlamudi serving as one of the creative producers.
