The upcoming social thriller Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, has undergone a few changes ahead of its theatrical release on June 20. The film initially received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for a runtime of over three hours. However, the makers later chose to trim the film and submitted it for re-certification.
The revised version now runs for 181 minutes. Around 14 minutes of footage spread across 19 scenes were removed from the original version. This development has stirred curiosity among audiences, particularly given the film’s genre and thematic content. Meanwhile, Sekhar Kammula said in a recent interview that the Tamil version is going to be a minute lengthier with more shots included.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa marks a departure from his usual romantic dramas, venturing into the social thriller space. The story follows a homeless man, played by Dhanush, who becomes entangled in a larger operation involving an investigative officer (Nagarjuna) and an influential industrialist (Jim Sarbh).
Produced by Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, Kuberaa will release in Telugu and Tamil, with dubbed versions in Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
