The upcoming social satire Uppu Kappurambu, starring Suhas and Keerthy Suresh, is set to make its direct-to-OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video. Skipping a theatrical release, the film will premiere on July 4 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The first look poster was unveiled along with the release date announcement.

Directed by Ani Sasi, known for Ninnila Ninnila, Uppu Kappurambu is set in the fictional village of Chitti Jayapuram during the 1990s. It is set to revolve around a cemetery backdrop and uses satire to comment on the serious issue of burial infrastructure in rural India.

Keerthy Suresh plays a village woman in Uppukappurambu, marking her return to Telugu cinema after a two-year gap. She was last seen in the Hindi film Baby John, which did not fare well at the box office. Suhas, who plays the male lead, continues to find strong footing in digital platforms.

Uppu Kappurambu is produced by Radhika Lavu under Ellanar Films banner and is written by Vasanth Maringanti. Supporting roles include Shatru, known for Pushpa. Music is composed by Sweekar Agasthi and Rajesh Murugesan, with editing by Sreejith Sarang.

Reports suggest that Amazon Prime Video acquired the digital rights for the film at a notable price. The film initially had plans for a theatrical release in June but at the last minute, the makers’ plans changed. Teasers and trailers are set to come out in the coming weeks.
