The trailer of Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans, Sony LIV’s upcoming Telugu political drama, was unveiled on Thursday. It opens with a roadside accident that sparks a friendship between Krishnama Naidu (Aadhi Pinisetty) and MS Rami Reddy (Chaitanya Rao), two young reformist leaders with a shared vision for Andhra Pradesh. However, ideological differences soon drive a wedge between them, igniting a fierce political rivalry.

Set in the political backdrop of the 1990s in united Andhra Pradesh, the series is described as a fictionalised drama inspired by real-life events. Creator Deva Katta, who co-directs the series with Kiran Jay Kumar, uses this friendship-turned-rivalry to explore themes of power, loyalty, and ambition. Social media users and cinephiles have decoded resemblances between the lead characters and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the late ex Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Mayasabha’s trailer also teases a tense standoff involving a character modelled after senior NT Rama Rao, played by veteran actor Sai Kumar. Divya Dutta plays Iravati Basu, then Prime Minister and a key political figure in the series. Nasser also plays a key character, a media baron. The narrative weaves personal relationships with political manoeuvres, showcasing how alliances and rivalries shape state politics.

Produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni and Sree Harsha under Hitmen & Proodos Productions LLP, Mayasabha also features Nasser, Ravindra Vijay, and other prominent actors. The series will stream in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam on Sony LIV from August 7.

Known for films like Prasthanam and Republic, Deva Katta brings his signature political storytelling to the digital space, positioning Mayasabha as a character-driven drama rooted in Andhra Pradesh’s political evolution.
