Dance choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, commonly known as Jani Master, has been in the news for quite a while since an assistant choreographer filed a sexual harassment case against him. Recently, actor and presenter Jhansi took to her Instagram page saying that the Film Chamber of Commerce won a case filed against Jani regarding sexual harassment at workplace charges. She wrote, “Film Chamber of Commerce wins the case against choreographer Jani Basha, who had challenged the chambers’ orders in the district court on the grounds of proven sexual harassment at workplace charges. The court has dismissed his interim application. This is a significant judgment, proving that women’s safety at the workplace is a priority and institutions enforcing POSH guidelines have to be supported.”
Without naming anyone, Jani also took to his X and responded to the allegation. “I feel pity by seeing people spreading false news even on court orders for their own benefit. You are sharing posts as per your convenience by linking the judgement of the case I filed regarding the Union President elections, which were held without my knowledge, to an entirely different case. You may think that people will believe whatever you say but once the judgement of the actual case comes out, everyone will understand your true colours and why you are spreading this false information. Justice will prevail and everyone will know the truth very soon.”
Recently, Jani was permanently expelled from Dancers and Dance Directors Association, where he previously served as President, over the POCSO charges against him. As per film chamber’s orders, the association held an election on December 6, 2024, during which choreographer Joseph Prakash was elected president, marking Jani Master's permanent exit. Jani filed a petition challenging the association elections.
Jani was arrested by Cyberabad police for threatening and after he gave a confession, a POCSO charge was also filed against the choreographer since the victim was a minor when the abuse started. Jani Master is currently out on conditional bail from Telangana High Court. He last worked on Ram Charan’s Game Changer.
