Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, the popular 1992 anime film based on the mythological epic Ramayana, will have a massive release in theatres across India on January 24, 32 years after its original release. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English. On the occasion, renowned screenwriter and SS Rajamouli’s father V Vijayendra Prasad expressed his excitement, calling a film ‘a gift for India’s children.’
In an official statement, Vijayendra Prasad, who has reportedly worked as a creative director for the Indian translations of the movie, said, “I invite the new generation of our country to discover and embrace the film with their families. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is an invaluable gift from Japan to the children of India. Let this film be a source of joy, learning, and pride for India. I look forward to seeing your smiles as you embark on this cinematic journey.”
Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama had a limited theatrical release in India in 1997. The film, which was a Indo-Japanese co-production, will be distributed by AA films, Excel Entertainment and Geek Pictures India.
