Telangana govt must stick to its promise about ticket price hikes: TFCC Gen Secy JVR
On Friday, Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) General Secretary JVR held a press conference, expressing his criticism of the Telangana government about their stance on ticket price hikes.
Addressing the media, JVR stated, “The Telangana government had clearly stated that there would be no hike in ticket prices for big films. However, ticket prices for Game Changer have been increased. The government must uphold its commitment.” He expressed concerns that any price hikes for big films would harm smaller films and discourage audiences from visiting theatres more often.
During the same media interaction, JVR also expressed disappointment about renowned producer Pratani Ramakrishna Goud, along with other TFCC members not being invited to the recent meeting between Telangana government and film industry, stressing the need for an ‘inclusive representation.’ He added, “The representation of Telangana stakeholders there was notably absent. TFCC has 35,000 workers, 16,000 members, and over 1,000 producers. The government must recognize TFCC's significance and involve its leadership in discussions.”
Commenting on Dil Raju’s efforts towards the same, JVR said, “He has not made sufficient efforts to bring industry issues to the government's attention. The film industry consists of over 1 lakh workers, yet discussions are being restricted to a select few individuals, sidelining TFCC representatives.” It is to be noted that Dil Raju was recently appointed as chairman of TFDC (Telangana Film Development Corporation).
