Recently, discussion between veteran Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and Telugu producer Naga Vamsi during a producers' roundtable hosted by Galatta Plus went viral. The discussion had Naga Vamsi make a few comments about the recent success of South Indian films. His comments were criticised by many Bollywood figures like Hansal Mehta, Sumit Kadel among others.

Naga Vamsi in a recent interview while promoting his upcoming action thriller, Daaku Maharaaj, said, “I am being trolled a lot, and I want to clarify that I did not intend to offend anyone. As a Telugu cinema producer, I simply praised our Telugu film, which has set new records at the box office.” He continued "Who am I to disrespect Boney Kapoor ji, a legendary producer? The way I sat, spoke, and my words have been misinterpreted. After the interview, Boney ji and I spent a lot of time discussing important matters, but no one highlighted them. These trolls exist only online, and I don’t have much more to say about it,”

During the heated discussion, Vamsi argued that the South Indian industry had reshaped Indian cinema. “We, South Indians, have changed the way Bollywood looks at cinema,” he said, referencing blockbusters like Baahubali, RRR, and Pushpa. Boney Kapoor countered citing Bollywood classics like Mughal-E-Azam as evidence of its longstanding influence. Further reaction from Boney Kapoor is awaited.
