SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s much-awaited collaboration, tentatively referred to as SSMB29, is reportedly set to have its formal launch on January 2. While an official confirmation is yet to come, industry insiders suggest the event will be a simple affair, despite the massive buzz surrounding the project.
Penned by Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad, the film is touted as the highest-budgeted Indian production to date. Billed as a globetrotting adventure, it will feature Mahesh Babu in the lead, with unconfirmed reports hinting at Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra onboard. The film’s narrative is said to span the Amazon rainforest and could be released as a two-part saga to do justice to its expansive story.
Production is expected to kick off in the first quarter of 2025, with a long shooting schedule, a hallmark of Rajamouli’s filmmaking style. The crew includes frequent collaborators like costume designer Rama Rajamouli and Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, while cinematographer P.S. Vinod steps in replacing the Rajamouli regular, Senthil Kumar.
Rajamouli, who gained international acclaim with RRR (2022), is expected to push the boundaries of Indian cinema with SSMB29.
