Actor Manchu Manoj was detained by Tirupati police on Monday night and taken to the Bhakarapet police station. The exact reason for his detention remains unclear. Reports indicate that his father, veteran actor Mohan Babu, has been pressing authorities to restrict Manoj’s movements, particularly around MB University. Manoj was taken into custody from Lake View Resorts following a police raid but was released at midnight after a tense exchange.
Manchu Manoj was recently prevented from entering the Mohan Babu University in Tirupati. As per a video going viral on social media, Manoj stated that he and his staff were staying at the Lake Valley Restaurant near Kanuma Road when police came in and questioned his staff about their presence and summoned them to the station. He further alleged that by the time he arrived at the police station, the Sub-Inspector was not present. Expressing frustration, he claimed that police were repeatedly causing trouble for him wherever he went. Later, Manoj reportedly spoke over the phone with Circle Inspector Imran Basha. He expressed his anger, questioning why he was being subjected to such treatment
The ongoing dispute within the Manchu family has been making headlines for weeks, particularly over property disagreements involving Mohan Babu and his sons, Manoj and Vishnu. Manoj has publicly stated that he is fighting against alleged irregularities at MB University. His recent meeting with Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh has further fuelled speculation about his political intentions.
Manoj and his wife, Bhuma Mounika, were in Tirupati for the Jallikattu celebrations, where he was welcomed by TDP and Janasena supporters. The family dispute first gained public attention in December when Mohan Babu accused Manoj and his wife of forcibly occupying his Hyderabad residence. Manoj countered with claims that he was attacked by unidentified individuals at his home.
As tensions continue to rise, the conflict remains a major talking point on social media.
