Singer Mangli has addressed the controversy surrounding her alleged political affiliations on Sunday, stating that she does not support any political party. In an open letter, she responded to criticism after her recent visit to the Arasavalli Sun Temple in Srikakulam with Union Minister K. Rammohan Naidu and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders.
Mangli clarified that she sang a song for the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) during the 2019 elections but has not done so in 2024. "Some YSR Congress leaders approached me in 2019, and I sang a song for them. However, I never spoke against any other party," she said. She added that she had performed for leaders from multiple parties and did not endorse any political group.
The singer expressed frustration over being linked to political parties whenever she attends religious events. "My songs are meant for festivals, not political campaigns," she stated.
Mangli also refuted claims that she had refused to sing for TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu. "This is a baseless accusation. People are spreading misinformation for political gain," she said.
She concluded by reiterating that her focus remains on music and urged people not to associate her work with politics.
