Sairam Shankar will soon be seen playing a lead role in the upcoming thriller Oka Pathakam Prakaaram. The film, directed by Malayalam filmmaker Vinod Vijayan, will release on February 7, clashing against the Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi starrer Thandel. During a recent media interaction, the actor stated that his film is not competing with Thandel.
When asked about the film’s box office potential when pitched with a film like Thandel, Sairam stated, “Our film is releasing in 50 centres. There’s no competition. We are not releasing along with Thandel; we are releasing next to Thandel.”
Sairam also spoke about his long association with Vinod Vijayan, before they collaborated on the film. He said, “He has been my friend since my first movie, and is also a well-rounded technician with great knowledge. After producing two films with Fahadh Faasil, he now wants to make Telugu films. Even for this film, he has designed the fight scenes and songs in a way that suits Telugu audiences.”
Sairam, who took a hiatus after his 2017 film Nenorakam, made his comeback to movies last year with Vey Dharuvey. Talking about his near future plans, the actor said, “Even though I faced failures in the past, producers are still willing to work with me. Also, I am open to any role as long as the character is good.” Sairam’s upcoming projects include a mythological web-series where he plays a 60-year-old man, and a film titled Resound.
In Oka Pathakam Prakaaram, Sairam Shankar will be seen playing a criminal lawyer. The film also features Shruti Sodhi, Ashima Narwal, and Samuthirakani in key roles.
