The makers of Gaami, the pathbreaking adventure film which released last year, have added another feather to their cap, with the film being chosen as an ‘official selection’ at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) this year.
UV Creations, the presenters of the film, shared the update on their X page, captioning the post, “An incredible milestone for Gaami.” The film will be screened under the 'Harbour' section at the renowned film festival.
Starring Vishwak Sen in the lead role, Gaami told the story of an Aghora, who embarks on a herculean quest to find the cure for his rare condition where he cannot feel the sensations of a human touch.
Directed by debutant Vidyadhar Kagita, Gaami also starred Chandini Chowdary, Abhinaya, Mohammad Samad, and Harika Pedada in important roles. Initially started as a crowd-funded project, Gaami was produced by Karthik Sabareesh in association with Swetha Vahini Studios, Vishwaksen Cinemas, Tamada Media and Clown Pictures. Made on a budget of Rs 6 crore, Gaami emerged as a commercial hit, collecting over 21 crores at worldwide boxoffice.
Besides Gaami, other indie Indian films to be selected for the 'Harbour' section are Bokshi, Morichika, Rhythm of a Flower, Slow Man and his Raft, and Theater. Other Indian films scheduled for a screening at this year's edition of the festival include Bad Girl (Tiger Competition section) and Thangalaan (limelight section).
