On Monday, the makers of Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab released a new trailer for their film, titled ‘2.0’ which introduces film-goers to many new fantastical layers, also giving a clearer glimpse into its storyline.
After years of hearing mythical stories about his grandfather, Prabhas’ character finally decides to confront him — a mission which takes him to a hypnotic mansion, where everything is in illusion. However, a determined Raja Saab (Prabhas) takes it upon myself to cross every hurdle and pass every barrier to confront his ancestor, a journey that also takes him down a path of time-travel and learning more about his roots and their family history. In the new trailer, the makers of The Raja Saab have also repositioned their film as a horror-fantasy, as opposed to the horror-comedy genre being mentioned in the promotional material so far.
The trailer ends with Prabhas dressed like popular comic book figure Joker, alluding to him embracing his dark side to face his demonic dead grandfather. The new trailer also includes many grand VFX-laden visuals, which are impressive in their conception as well as execution. Additionally, Thaman’s background score for the teaser too stands out with its rousing tune.
Sanjay Dutt plays the mysterious and demonic grandfather figure, while Zarina Wahab will be seen as Prabhas’ grandmother. Boman Irani promisingly plays the knowledgeable caretaker of the mansion who guides Prabhas in his quest. Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab features Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agere and Riddhi Kumar as the female leads, while Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani play significant roles.
The film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory. The technical team has cinematographer Karthik Palani, production designer Rajeevan, and editor Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao.
The Raja Saab is confirmed to have a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026, with special premiere shows planned for January 8. Other Telugu films slated for Sankranthi release are Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, Anaganaga Oka Raju and Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wigynapthi.
