Actor Sivaji, who recently came under fire for his comments on women’s clothing at the Dhandoraa pre-release event, appeared before the Telangana State Women’s Commission on Saturday. He spent nearly two hours interacting with the Commission, during which Chairperson Nerella Sharada questioned him about his remarks.

After the meeting, Sivaji addressed the media and said he had answered all the questions raised by the Commission. “I gave clear explanations to Madam for every question she asked,” he said.

The actor admitted that his comments at the Dhandoraa event were misunderstood and had a negative impact. “In that flow, I used a few inappropriate words, because of which the Commission issued a notice to me. I have now given a full explanation,” Sivaji said.

Sivaji added that he shared his perspective with the Commission and responded to concerns raised on behalf of those who felt hurt by his remarks. “Some people were hurt by what I said, and Madam questioned me on their behalf. I answered those questions as well,” he said.

According to Sivaji, the Chairperson pointed out that his influence led to the remarks going viral and could encourage others to make similar comments in the future. “I told her that I would stop here and be more careful going forward,” he said, adding that he does not understand why some people feel jealous of him.

Speaking about women, Sivaji said their role in society is indispensable. “Without women, there is no human existence. Who am I to tell a woman what she should wear? She has every right to wear whatever she wants,” he said, adding that he intended to say something positive but realised that his words were misinterpreted.

Sivaji also stated that he was not afraid of anyone and clarified that he respects institutions and the system. “I am an actor and I respect my film industry. Even if I am not part of it, I own agricultural land and can live with self-respect. I am a farmer’s son,” he said.

He further said that he would appear before the Commission again if required. “If they call or message me, I will go. I have agreed to cooperate fully,” Sivaji said, adding that he has no intention of hurting or troubling anyone.

“I spoke after witnessing an incident and felt disturbed by it. Some wrong words slipped out, and I later apologised for them. I also showed that apology to the Commission,” Sivaji added.
