Ramachandra Raju, popularly known as NTR Raju, passed away a few days ago in Tirupati. He was a devoted admirer of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, late NT Rama Rao. Raju served as the founder of the NTR All India Fans Association and later became its president. He also served twice as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board.

When NT Rama Rao entered politics and founded the Telugu Desam Party, Ramachandra Raju was offered an MLA ticket. However, he declined the offer, choosing instead to remain a devoted fan and follower of NTR.

Over the years, Raju frequently travelled from Tirupati to Hyderabad to meet NTR and eventually became like a family member to the Nandamuri household. He passed away due to age-related ailments. Following his demise, members of the Nandamuri family visited Tirupati, carried his mortal remains on their shoulders, and expressed their deep grief.

NTR’s sons Nandamuri Ramakrishna and Nandamuri Mohan Krishna, along with grandchildren Nandamuri Mohana Roopa and Nandamuri Chaitanya Krishna, visited NTR Raju’s residence and paid their tributes. They consoled the bereaved family and assured them of their continued support. Several dignitaries, film personalities, political leaders, and MLAs also attended to pay their respects.

Speaking on the occasion, members of the Nandamuri family and other leaders recalled that Ramachandra Raju earned a permanent place in people’s hearts not by his given name, but as NTR Raju. They said his devotion and admiration for NT Rama Rao were priceless and unmatched, and described his passing as an irreparable loss to NTR fans.

They also fondly remembered his invaluable services as a TTD Board Member. Despite serving twice on the board, NTR Raju never accepted any remuneration and worked selflessly for the welfare of the temple and the convenience of devotees. His contributions to TTD, they said, were immeasurable.
