Mowgli, the Sandeep Raj directorial, is now arriving on December 13, after Akhanda 2’s decision to release on December 12. The action-romance that stars Roshan Kanakala and Sakkshi Mhadolkar interestingly also received an ‘A’ rating from censor board, considering there has been nothing extreme in the promotional material released so far.
The Mowgli makers held a promotional event on Wednesday, where actor-filmmaker Bandi Saroj Kumar who plays the antagonist in the film made a few strong remarks about the censor board’s reaction to the film. On Thursday, the Mowgli makers issued an official apology to the censor board.
At the event, Bandi Saroj Kumar, who plays an evil cop in the film, said recalling the censor board member’s reaction, "When the censor board guy saw the film, he got scared. He said, 'Who is this actor? He didn't just play a ruthless copy. i feel like I am watching an actual ruthless cop, and I felt scared.' That's why he gave an A-certificate, my director told me.
Taking to their X page, the production banner posted, “People Media Factory extends its sincere apologies to the Censor Board and the Censor Officer for the unfortunate incident yesterday. An unintended remark was made by our actor, Bandi Saroj, regarding the Censor Board and the Officer's reactions. The remark was a loose and unintended statement, and we are withdrawing it from all published content with immediate effect.
The note added, “We wish to clarify that we hold the highest regard for the Censor process and deeply respect the Board's role in governing content with responsibility and integrity. ”
