Bhagyashri Borse reveals Kaantha was supposed to be her debut
Bhagyashri Borse's maiden Telugu performance in Mr Bachchan, was widely received. The Ravi Teja-starrer, which was released in August last year, directed by Harish Shankar and a remake of the Hindi film Raid, performed underwhelmingly at the box office. Even the producer, TG Vishwa Prasad, later described the film as a ‘mistake.’ Despite the film's performance, Bhagyashri did not lose hope.
She next starred opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Despite the high expectations pre-release, the film ended up receiving an average response.
Speaking about her recent release, Kaantha, the actor reveals that it was the first South Indian film she auditioned for. The release, however, was delayed for several reasons, and the film finally hit theatres on November 14. Released as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu, the film featured Bhagyashri in a pivotal role. Although she earned good appreciation for her performance, the film received mixed reviews.
Her latest release, Andhra King Taluka, in which she starred opposite Ram Pothineni, also struggled at the box office. The film opened last Thursday, but the numbers have been very low, and it is heading towards a flop. Even though Ram reportedly did not take any remuneration and instead took the Nizam and Guntur rights, the overall budget remained high. Despite these efforts, the film performed below expectations.
Both Ram Pothineni and Bhagyashri travelled to the USA to promote the film there. Their absence in India immediately after the release meant that the team could not carry out essential local promotions. Directed by Mahesh Babu P, the film also featured Kannada star Upendra in an important role as Surya, the Superstar.
Despite these setbacks, Bhagyashri Borse continues to be in demand in Tollywood. She is currently working on Lenin opposite Akhil and has a few more projects lined up. She is still waiting for that one film that will give her the big break she deserves in Tollywood.
