After enjoying boxoffice success with HIT 3, Nani is gearing up for his next big release The Paradise. Directed by Dasara filmmaker Srikanth Odela, The Paradise will have a boxoffice clash with Ram Charan starrer Peddi. During a recent interview, Nani spoke about the futility of seeing multiple film releases as competitive, and why filmmakers should hope for each other’s success.
During his appearance on the talk show Jayammu NischayammuRaa with Jagapathi, Nani said, “Many people in the industry see it as a competition if there are 2-3 releases at once — industry folks, and fans too, thinking on the lines of, ‘Our films should work, and theirs shouldn't.’ I have observed it since my journey as an assistant director. Nobody understands that cinema is a momentum. All movies should find success. If others’ movies don’t work, your film won’t work either.”
Talking about how he always prays to god before stepping out of his house, Nani added, “While praying, I wish for success for all films that I can think of, not just mine. It’s an ecosystem. If all thrive, we will thrive. If we keep thinking our about our wellbeing, that doesn’t work.”
The HIT 3 actor noted that industry needs to develop that sense of cameraderie, adding, “Only then cinema will evolve so much that it will bless us back. This pointed, closed thought process should change now. I wish it happens soon.”
It is to be noted that many of Nani’s recent films like Ante Sundaraniki, Dasara, HIT 3 and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram largely enjoyed a solo release window, and didn't have clash with a big scale film. His popular romantic drama Hi Nanna had competition from Nithiin-starrer Extraordinary Man, and emerged as a clear winner at the box office.
While The Paradise is scheduled to arrive on March 26 next year, Peddi will hit theatres a day later, on March 27.
