Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has marked eight years since the release of Arjun Reddy, the film that brought him nationwide recognition. In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, the filmmaker reflected on how the 2017 Telugu hit shaped his career and expressed gratitude to the team and audience.

“Eight years ago, Arjun Reddy changed my life forever. What started as a story close to my heart became a movement, only because of your love and relentless support,” he wrote.

“Every frame, every dialogue, every emotion in this film found meaning because you embraced it with such honesty and passion. I remain forever grateful to my actors, my team, and most importantly to all of you who continue to celebrate Arjun Reddy even after all these years. Here’s to eight years of a journey that still feels fresh, raw, and alive. Thank you for making it eternal,” he added.

Alongside the note, Vanga also posted a short video clip of himself with Vijay Deverakonda from the film’s shoot, which was quickly shared across fan pages.

Released in August 2017, Arjun Reddy starred Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead, with supporting roles by Rahul Ramakrishna, Jia Sharma, and Kanchana, among others. The story of a hot-headed surgeon dealing with heartbreak became a talking point for its raw style and unfiltered approach. Made on a reported budget of around Rs 5 crore, the film grossed over Rs 50 crore worldwide.

The film won praise for its performances and technical craft, though it also faced criticism for its portrayal of relationships, anger, and substance use. Its popularity, however, led to remakes, Kabir Singh in Hindi, helmed by Vanga himself and Adithya Varma in Tamil, further cementing its cultural impact.

Vanga is now preparing for his next project, Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead which is going on floors from September. Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is going to start shooting VD14 with Rahul Sankrityan.
