Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, earned approximately Rs 8 crore India net on its third day on Saturday, according to Sacnilk. This brings its total India net collection to around Rs 33 crore since its release on July 31.
The film opened with a solid Rs 18 crore on its first day but witnessed a sharp decline on day two, settling at about Rs 7.5 crore. Its day three sees a slight recovery, though still below opening expectations.
Kingdom tells the story of Suri (Vijay Deverakonda), a constable turned undercover spy on a mission in fictional Sri Lanka. As he infiltrates hostile territory, he confronts personal stakes when his brother Siva (Satyadev) is revealed to be part of the smuggling network. The film has been delayed multiple times due to re-shoots.
Bhagyashri Borse plays the film’s female lead. Produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, Kingdom boasts music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Jomon T John and Girish Gangadharan, editing by Navin Nooli and production design by Avinash Kolla.
The CE review of Kingdom reads, “Gowtam Tinnanuri’s latest has too many elements on its platter, and ends up doing a disservice to its emotional core.”
