Rana Daggubati, who was the presenter for the recently released 35, is now collaborating with Dulquer Salmaan for a multilingual project titled Kaantha. The film was officially launched with a muhurtham puja ceremony on Monday at Rama Naidu Studios in Hyderabad. Rana Daggubati’s uncle and senior actor Venkatesh gave the muhurtham clap for the project.
The film will be jointly produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media, which is an arm of Suresh Productions. Incidentally, Suresh Productions completes 60 years of its inception in 2024. Rana Daggubati stated in an official press release, “Partnering with Wayfarer Films for Kaantha adds a new dimension to this project. Their commitment to quality cinema aligns perfectly with our vision at Spirit Media. Kaantha is the ideal film to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Suresh Productions and mark the beginning of a new era with Spirit Media."
Dulquer Salmaan will also star in the project. The film will additionally star Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse — the latter recently made her Telugu debut with the recent film Mr Bachchan. Kaantha is billed as a period-drama, set against the backdrop of 1950s Madras. The film will be directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, who has previously made the 2016 film Nila and an episode in the series The Hunt for Veerappan.
More details about the primary cast and crew are yet to be announced.
