You will see me in a massy avatar in Gangs of Godavari: Anjali

Anjali, who last headlined the horror-comedy Geethanjali Malli Vachindhi, is now gearing up for her next release Gangs of Godavari. The actor plays Lankala Rathna’s sister Rathnamala in the Vishwak Sen starrer. During a media interaction on Sunday, Anjali talked about how her role in Gangs of Godavari stands out in her filmography.

Addressing the media, Anjali stated, “Earlier, many people saw my girl-next-door, sweet person roles. In Gangs of Godavari, you will see me in massy avatar. I even used some cuss words. I thought they might get changed during censor review, but it turns out everyone is talking about it now.”

Further talking about her character Rathnamala, Anjali described her as a mass version of Sita from the 2013 film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Anjali added, “Rathnamala is a complex role. She is pure by heart and very loving. Yet, she is also somebody who reacts to everything. I worked very hard for the role, and I took the character home many times.”

Gangs of Godavari also stars Neha Sshetty, who plays Rathna’s wife in the film. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for the film. Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, Gangs of Godavari is slated to release on May 31.
