On Tuesday, director SS Rajamouli announced his new project Baahubali: Crown of Blood, an animated series based on his famed Baahubali duology. The official announcement reads as follows, “When the people of Mahishmati chant his name, no force in the universe can stop him from returning. Baahubali: Crown of Blood, an animated series, arrives soon!”
It may be noted that this is the second time a televised spin-off of Baahubali was announced. A few years ago, Netflix was set to produce a live-action series based on Baahubali titled The Rise of Sivagami. The series was originally a novel written by popular author Anand Neelakantan. The Rise of Sivagami, which was supposed to star Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead role, was shelved mid-production.
On the work front, SS Rajamouli is gearing up for SSMB 29, an Indiana Jones-styled globetrotting adventure film starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role. He will also be serving as a producer for director Nitin Kakkar’s upcoming film Made In India, a feature billed as a biopic of Indian cinema. In addition to that, Rajamouli will be presenting his son’s SS Kartikeya’s maiden films as a producer, namely, Oxygen and Don’t Trouble the Trouble.
