In a recent interview, actress Prashanthi Harathi expressed a desire to return to Tollywood. Prashanthi rose to limelight in the early 2000s with her work in films like Pellam Oorelithe and Indra.
Prashanthi, who settled in America after getting married, spoke about how the advent of OTT content has led to greater opportunities for aspiring actors. She added, “Seeing these opportunities, I felt that I should come back to Tollywood. I want to showcase my passion as an actress." Further speaking about the positive impact of OTT, Prashanthi said, “There is a lot of innovation in movie content compared to the past. Lady-oriented movies and web series have increased. There have been great biopics like Mahanati.”
Prashanti, who started a Kuchipudi dance school named Omkara after marriage, talked about her love for the art form. She said, “I have been fond of the arts since childhood and learned Kuchipudi dance. I then did some photoshoots, and some people offered me roles in films. My family members did not agree to send me to the film industry at first. Seeing my interest in acting, they finally agreed.”
Prashanthi made her debut with a film titled February 14 Necklace Road, followed by films like Rupai. She later received the offer to work in Chiranjeevi starrer Indra when she was working for Balaji Telefilms for their TV shows. The Indra actress also talked about the influence of movies on her decision to become a dancer. She added, “I have not studied acting courses, but I became a classical dancer without knowing it. We once watched Vishwanath's films and were inspired to learn to dance like Manju Bhargavi and Bhanu Priya. We have been able to pass down our art to the next generation. Such inspiring movies and series need to come even now."
