Filmmaker Sreenu Vaitla pens a note as Venky completes 20 years of the release

Ravi Teja’s 2004 movie Venky completes 20 years of its release this week. The film gradually came to earn a cult status among film-goers. On the occasion, Venky director Sreenu Vaitla penned a note reminiscing about the film’s making process.

Taking to his X page, Sreenu posted, “It has been 20 years, and Venky remains closest to my heart!! It was an amazing experience that I always cherish. The movie was full of crazy moments and memories!! The way Ravi Teja portrayed his character and supported me is simply awesome!!”

Sreenu also thanked other crew members of his film, like music director Devi Sri Prasad, writers Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan, as well as actors Ashutosh Rana, Sneha, and Brahmanand. Additionally, thanking his producer, Atluri Purna Chandra Rao, Sreenu added in his post, “Not just the release, even the recent rerelease has given me a wonderful feeling. I also thank all the audience and memers in particular.”

Venky told the story of its titular protagonist (played by Ravi Teja) and his friends, who decide to unravel the mystery of two murders that took place on a train they were on board. After Venky, Ravi Teja and Sreeni went on to collaborate on two other projects: Dubai Seenu (2007) and Amar Akbar Anthony (2018).
