Magadheera gets a re-release

The Ram Charan-starrer Magadheera (2009) will re-release in certain theatres from March 27 on the occasion of the actor’s birthday. He will be turning 39 this year. Magadheera is Ram Charan's first collaboration with Rajamouli, the second one being RRR, which came out 13 years after Magadheera. The film has emerged as a blockbuster in the box office, subsequently earning a cult classic status, followed by a remake in Bengali. The Hindi film Raabta (2018) was also heavily inspired by Magadheera. The film also marked a paradigm shift for director SS Rajamouli, who transitioned from commercial entertainers to larger-than-life spectacle films with this period reincarnation drama.

Magadheera also starred Kajal Aggarwal, Dev Gill and the late Srihari in pivotal roles. Ram Charan and Kajal play star-crossed lovers, who died tragically, only to get another chance at reunion after they find their souls reincarnated. Conflict arises when the person responsible for their deaths in their past life (Dev Gill) is also reborn.

Magadheera, produced by Allu Aravind under the Geetha Arts banner, is widely considered to be one of the best films of Rajamouli's filmography. The film's story is penned by V Vijayendra Prasad, with music by MM Keeravani, cinematography by KK Senthil Kumar and editing by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao.

Ram Charan is currently working on Game Changer, a political thriller helmed by director Shankar. He will be seen sharing space with his Vineya Vidheya Rama co-star Kiara Advani in the film. His upcoming film RC 16 was recently, officially launched with a muhurtham pooja last week. RC 16, also starring Janhvi Kapoor, is set to be a sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
