The official teaser of Family Star was unveiled on Monday. The teaser of the Vijay Devarakonda-Mrunal Thakur starrer was supposed to release on Monday evening but technical issues delayed the teaser drop by a couple of hours.
Family Star is written and directed by Parsuram. He last directed Sarkaru Vaari Paata in 2022, which starred Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles. Family Star marks the sophomore collaboration of Vijay Devarakonda with director Parsuram. They have previously worked together in the 2018 romantic drama Geetha Govindam.
Joining them in the collaboration is music composer Gopi Sundar, who will be providing music for Family Star. The film also marks the first collaboration with actors Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Devarakonda. Family Star is Mrunal's third film, after Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna.
The teaser opens with a montage of Vijay Devarakonda's life. Going by the looks of the teaser, the actor plays an architect (or a civil engineer) hailing from a middle-class family, who can rise above his quotidian existence and kick villains when trouble arises. Abhinaya, Vasuki Anand and Rohini Hattangadi are seen playing members of Vijay's family. The montage, which plays against the rap single 'Dekhoro Dekho', ends with an exchange of dialogues between Mrunal's and Vijay's characters.
Family Star is produced by Dil Raju and Shirish under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. KU Mohanan is the cinematographer of the film, with editing by Marthand K Venkatesh and production design by AS Prakash. Family Star was initially scheduled to release for Sankranti 2024 but it is now hitting theatres on April 5.
