Ever since the Nag Ashwin directorial Kalki 2898 AD hit theatres, there have been plenty of speculations about the box-office potential of the film. While the film opened to a huge response all over the country, it fell short of breaking the all-time records of highest collections on day 1 for an Indian film. Now the film’s co-producer, Swapna Dutt, has reacted to the speculations about their film.
Taking to her official X handle, Swapna Dutt posted, “It’s very amazing that people are calling or asking, did we cross records? It’s hilarious because guys who create or created those records never make films for the records. We make for the audience. We make for the love of cinema. We did the same.”
According to boxoffice tracker website Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD has earned approximately Rs. 175 crore worldwide on day 1. This makes the film third-highest opener ever in Indian cinema, only behind RRR (223 crore) and Baahubali 2 (217 crore).
Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in significant roles, is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.
