Kalki 2898 AD becomes highest opening Indian film in North America, beating RRR

Kalki 2898 AD, the latest Nag Ashwin directorial starring Prabhas, which released today, has now become the highest-opening Indian film in North America. The dystopian sci-fi-meets-mythology spectacle also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in significant roles.

According to a report from the box office tracker Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD’s day-1 gross earnings stood at $3.65 million (30.50 crores) as of 9 pm PST. RRR, whose record the Prabhas-starrer broke, earned $3.3 million on its North American premiere in March 2022 when it released.

The same report also states that the final day 1 earnings of Kalki 2898 AD might cross the $4 million figure in North America by the end of the day. The Nag Ashwin directorial is also expected to earn over Rs 120 crore at the domestic box office, the report further stated. As far as the worldwide figures go, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to cross the 200-crore figure on its opening day.

The Prabhas starrer, produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, was distributed in North America jointly by distribution companies Prathyangira Cinemas and AA Creations.
