The entire Telugu film industry came together on Saturday to pay their final respects to legendary media mogul Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, who passed away in Hyderabad earlier this morning. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, one of the countless film personalities offering his tribute to the mortal remains of Ramoji Rao, stated that the only way to honour the late media baron is by conferring him with the Bharat Ratna.
Addressing the media at Ramoji Film City, the Baahubali director said, “He single-handedly established so many institutions, bringing so many innovations to the industry. Whatever field he entered, he touched the peak there and stood tall as a guiding light for so many artists. The only way we can pay tribute to him is by conferring Bharat Ratna. I request both the central and state governments to pay heed in these regards.”
Besides being the founder of Ramoji Rao Film City and Eenadu TV Network, Ramoji Rao produced over 40 Telugu films, winning the National Award for his 2000 film Nuvve Kavali. Among the many film personalities who offered their condolences earlier today were Pawan Kalyan, MM Keeravani, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, and Rajendra Prasad.
As a mark of honour to the Ramoji Rao studios founder, the Telugu Film Producers Council announced that all film shootings would be halted on Sunday.
