The makers of Kalki 2898 AD have received a legal notice on Saturday, from former Congress leader and Kalki Dham Peethadheeshwar Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who alleged the makers of ‘harming Hindu religion’ through the events in the film.

Earlier, speaking to IANS, Acharya had said, “The Kalki avatar will be the last incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Several of our 'puranas' are dedicated to him, giving every detail about his birth. Why tamper with these scriptures on the name of freedom of expression? This movie wants to mislead the people, and we have objections to that. We now await a revert to the legal notice we sent to them.” Advocate Ujjwal Kumar Sharma, who issued the notice on behalf of Acharya Pramod Krishnam, said in an official statement, “A lot of confused devotees approached the Acharya. So, he thought it would be appropriate to send a legal notice to the makers."

It is to be noted that the Nag Ashwin directorial, which starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan in prominent roles, made extensive use of mythological characters and texts in their narrative, including characters like Ashwatthama and Lord Krishna.
