A few days ago, Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy had praised Chiranjeevi for setting an example by providing a video message against narcotic substances, while also requesting other filmmakers to play their part in creating social awareness about cybercrime and narcotics, especially while requesting for ticket price hikes. On Tuesday, actors Kamal Haasan and Siddharth and filmmaker Shankar released a video lauding Reddy’s initiative and also issuing statements about perils of drug addiction.

The trio was present in Hyderabad on Sunday and Monday to promote their upcoming film Indian 2, that hits theatres on July 12.  Kamal Haasan said in the video, “The path you choose determines your future. So please say no to drugs.” The Indian 2 actor also congratulated Telangana government for ‘making it mandatory to give out such messages.” Siddharth and Shankar, too, offered their statements in support of the Telangana government for this initiative.  CM Revanth Reddy shared the said video on his X page, congratulating the Indian 2 team for their film.

To provide further context, while answering a journalist at a press meet on Monday, who had asked about social responsibility of actors and mentioned Revanth Reddy’s directives about making and sharing short PSA videos for the filmmakers, Siddharth stated, “From 2005 to 2011, I cooperated with Andhra Pradesh state government to promote safe sex awareness, where my face was visible on billboards all over, with me saying, ‘Please use condoms.’ He added, “So that social responsibility is mine; it won’t come after directives from a chief minister. Every actor is socially responsible. We do things based on our conscience. Whichever CM requests us to do something, we will do it. No CM has told us, ‘only if we do this, we will do something else.”
