On Thursday, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu was accused by renowned Hepatologist Cyriac Abby Philips, more popularly known on social media as 'The Liver Doc,’ of spreading misinformation about treatment for viral respiratory infections. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has now responded to the said allegations.

On Wednesday, Samantha Ruth Prabhu had shared in her Instagram story section an alternative treatment method for viral infections that worked for her. The method included nebulizing with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and distilled water. The actor had also suggested avoiding medication for common viral infection as much as possible. Samantha's claims were then refuted by Cyriac Abby Philips aka TheLiverDoc who also shared a medical advisory shared by Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, advocating strictly not to use an alternate method that was suggested by Samantha in her Instagram story on Wednesday. Cyriac had also appealed to the Health Ministry for taking action about ‘these social media health influenzas damaging public health.’

On Friday morning, taking to her Instagram stories, Samanth Ruth Prabhu shared a detailed note about her medical condition Myositis, and how she had tried various alternatives and did her own share of research before being suggested an alternative method by her highly qualified doctor who, she added, was an MD and had served in DRDO for over seven years. Samantha also mentioned that this alternative treatment cost 'a fraction of what she was spending on her conventional healthcare.’

Samantha further added in her note that her intention behind sharing the said treatment method was only to help others and that she was not paid or endorsed for sharing information about it.

Dr. Philips had slammed Samantha for recommending hydrogen peroxide nebulisation, calling her "health and science illiterate" and stating that the practice "is dangerous for health."

She responded to it by saying, "It would have been kind and compassionate of him had he not been so proactive with his words. Especially the bit where he suggests I should be thrown in prison. Nevermind. I suppose it goes with the territory of being a celebrity. I posted as someone who needs medical treatment and not as a celebrity."

Meanwhile, on the workfront, Samantha, was last seen Kushi alongside Vijay Devarakonda. She is now preparing for Citadel: Honey Bunny and the Telugu film Bangaram which marks her debut as a producer.
