Kalki 2898 AD gets a release date

The makers of Kalki 2898 AD, formerly known as Project K, have announced on Friday that they will be releasing their film on May 9, 2024. A mythology-inspired sci-fi spectacle with futuristic elements, the film is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani and Pasupathy, among others. The film is produced by Chalasani Aswini Dutt, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt under their family banner Vyjayanthi Movies. 

What makes this date special is the fact that May 9 was also the release date for previous Vyjayanthi Movies ' features Mahanati (2018) and Jagadeeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990) have also released. Speaking about the coincidence, Aswini Dutt, the founder of Vyjayanthi Movies banner notes, "As Vyjayanthi Movies marked its 50th year, the importance of May 9 in our cinematic journey remains evident. From the iconic Jagadeeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari to the award-winning Mahanati and Maharshi, this date has etched its place in our history. Now, the release of Kalki 2898 AD featuring gifted artists like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone marks a special moment for us and aligns with the banner's milestone 50th year, making it even more meaningful as we continue our journey at Vyjayanthi Movies." 

The music of Kalki 2898 AD is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by Djordje Stoljiljkovic, editing by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao and production design by Nitin Zihani Choudhary. Sai Madhav Burra has written the film's dialogues.
