Pawan Kalyan, who is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, interacted with the media on Monday, where he also responded to the recent row over the Sandhya Theatre tragedy involving Allu Arjun and Pushpa 2 makers. The Gabbar Singh actor said, “It is not right to blame Allu Arjun alone for an unfortunate incident that happened because of a collective unintentional mistake. This issue wouldn't have gotten so complicated had the core team members of the film met the deceased family the moment they got to know about Revathi Gari's death & assured them of every possible assistance.”
He further said that he respects the Telangana Chief minister, Revanth Reddy’s decision. He said, “I'll not blame the police or government as well. They proved that everyone is equal in front of the law by arresting a star hero. Revanth Reddy gaaru has assured that he would support the industry. He did the right thing.”
He also reflected on how he and Chiranjeevi used to go watch their films in camouflage. “Every hero wants to watch their film in theatres with audiences and learn. Every hero has the right to wave to his fans and watch their films. But everyone cornered Allu Arjun in this issue. Even me and Chiranjeevi gaaru used to watch our film but we used to go in disguise.”
Allu Arjun is currently on interim bail. The bail hearing is postponed to January 3, 2025.
During the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, the crowd got out of control and a stampede occurred. The chaos claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her 9 year old son, Tej, critically injured. Authorities said that the unannounced arrival of star Allu Arjun with the team and the negligence in implementing adequate security measures by the theatre led to the tragedy.
