
Leading members of the Telugu film industry, headed by Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) chairman Dil Raju, had a meeting with state CM Revanth Reddy on Thursday to discuss the future of Telugu cinema, and the measures to take the industry forward on a global level.
In an official press statement released later, Dil Raju stated, “CM garu shared his vision for the film industry, and talked about his aspiration to see Hyderabad as an international and global hub that also suits Hollywood productions,” adding that he alongwith other industry members plan to present a detailed proposal in their next meeting. "The agenda of the meeting was to explore how Telugu cinema can grow on a national and international scale. CM garu urged us to develop Hyderabad as a global hub for cinema, similar to its current status as a hub for pharma and IT sectors," he explained. Dil Raju informed that a committee will be form soon, to facilitate further collaborations.
The noted producer also clarified that unlike the rumours floating around, the key pointers of the meeting were focused on the overall functioning of industry, and not issues like benefit shows permissions and ticket prices. He added, “There is no truth to the negative news being spread about the meeting. There is no negativity from the government towards the industry. The government is very supportive."
Addressing the Sandhya theatre stampede incident, Dil Raju informed that while they have not been officially shown any incident-related footage, the TFI members have been advised nonetheless to be accountable for the behaviour of their management teams and bouncers. Some of the other key pointers discussed in the meeting were regarding the promotion of awareness about social issues, supporting goverment in the same.
Besides Revanthy Reddy, Deputy Chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Garu, and Cinematography Minister KomatiReddy Venkat Reddy Garu were also part of the meeting. Meanwhile, other industry members who attended the meeting included Nagarjuna, Koratala Siva and Prasanth Varma.
