Sai Teja, the eight-year-old boy, injured at the stampede in Hyderabad’s Sandhya theatre, has reportedly been declared brain dead owing to a lack of oxygen supply. The announcement was made by Hyderabad Commissioner CV Anand on Tuesday, December 17 following a visit to KIMS hospital where the child has been admitted.
The doctors treating him have reported that he is on mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen support and stable vital signs. While his fever is down, he continues to exhibit static neurological responses. A tracheostomy is being planned to aid in gradually weaning him off ventilator support. Despite this, recovery is expected to be long and uncertain, as the boy's brain suffered severe damage due to oxygen deprivation during the incident.
Teja was at the theatre along with his family to watch the premier show of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4. A case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management based on a complaint from the deceased’s family. At Sandhya theatre, the chaos claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her 9 year old son, Tej, critically injured. Authorities say that the unannounced arrival of star Allu Arjun with the team and the negligence in implementing adequate security measures by the theatre led to the tragedy.
Allu Arjun who had been taken into custody by the Chikkadpally Police was presented at the Telangana High Court. On Friday, the court granted interim bail to the Pushpa actor after he filed a quash petition. He was released the following day.
Meanwhile, the Cybercrime police have reportedly booked at least four cases on fans of actor Allu Arjun, for allegedly making derogatory comments on Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy. The cases were booked following complaints from party leaders of the Congress party.
According to reports, the units of Cyber Crime police in Hyderabad and districts are also tracking social media activity of fans of Allu Arjun, who are indulging in spreading unverified and malicious posts, especially against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, after the actor’s arrest.
