The gripping thriller web series Vikkatakavi, directed by Pradeep Maddali and starring Naresh Agastya and Megha Akash, is streaming on Zee5. Produced by Ram Talluri and Rajani Thalluri under the SRT Entertainments banner, the detective drama set in Telangana has clocked in more than 100 million streaming minutes since its release on November 28.

A key contributor to the series' positive reception is its music, composed by Ajay Arasada. Reflecting on his journey during a recent interview, Ajay said, “Directors have been my greatest mentors. Each project brings a fresh perspective, helping me explore new dimensions of music.” For Vikkatakavi, Ajay crafted a period-appropriate score that immerses audiences in the early Telangana era. “Working on Vikkatakavi was a different experience altogether. Being a periodical series, it required a unique musical approach. As a technician, my priority is always to deliver the output the directors seek, regardless of the genre—be it a film or a series. I'm always ready to adapt and create music for any kind of project. We aimed to create tracks that resonate with the essence of the period setting,” he explained.

Talking about the film’s director Pradeep Maddali and the vision he shared, “Director Pradeep Maddali had a clear vision of what he wanted, which made my work on the Vikatakavi series relatively smooth. Directors are my mentors, and following their guidance is my approach. I simply delivered the output he needed for the series. While working on Aay, I simultaneously composed music for three episodes of Vikatakavi.”

Born and raised in Visakhapatnam, Ajay’s passion for music began at home. “My aunts and sisters played the veena, and observing them closely sparked my interest in music,” he said. His entry into films happened by chance. “While working on short films alongside my job, I met director Pradeep Advaith, who introduced me to Pradeep Maddali. A 30-second music bit I composed landed me my first film project, Jagannatakam,” he recalled.

Since then, Ajay has worked on films like Goodachari and Missing, as well as web series such as Save the Tigers. Ajay Arasada also had AAY released this year. Currently, Ajay is composing for Three Roses Season 2 and other projects for Aha.

Vikkatakavi has Sai Babu Talari who did the editing and Shoeb Siddiquie who cranked the camera.
