Pushpa 2: The Rule, the much-hyped sequel directed by Sukumar has been unstoppable at the box office, becoming the fastest Indian film to mint Rs 1000 crore in just six days. Released worldwide on December 5, the gangster film has set a new benchmark for commercial cinema.
The news was confirmed by Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind the film, on their social media handles. The makers wrote, “The biggest Indian film rewrites history at the box office. Sukumar redefines commercial cinema.”
Despite a more than 50 per cent drop in weekday collections compared to weekend figures, the Allu Arjun-starrer continues its dominant box office run. According to Sacnilk, the India net collection is Rs 676.54 crore on Wednesday 8 PM. Currently, Pushpa 2 ranks fourth in India net collection, behind Baahubali 2 (Rs 1,030.42 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 859.7 crore) and RRR (Rs 782.2 crore). The film surpassed the lifetime domestic nett collection of Nag Ashwin’s Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 646.31 crore) today and that of Atlee’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan (Rs 640.25 crore) on Monday.
Building on the phenomenal success of Pushpa: The Rise (2019), the sequel takes the saga of Pushpa Raj to new heights. Featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and a stellar supporting cast, with music by Devi Sri Prasad and visuals by Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, Pushpa 2: The Rule is playing in theatres.
