Earlier Variety reported that Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule minted $1.4 million in global Imax box office across 16 markets. In India alone, the film is reported to have generated $650,000 from the 31 Imax screens. The gangster film becomes the biggest local language Imax opener of 2024 and also created the fourth highest Imax opening ever in India.

The box office numbers have pumped up because Imax has doubled its footprint in South-east Asia. The prominent screen company is said to be having aggressive expansion plans. Imax has grown from 3 to 31 screens over the last decade and the company plans to add 12 more in the coming days.

Pushpa 2’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, posted on Tuesday that the film raked in more than 800 crores in just 4 days, making it the fastest 800 crore grosser in India. The Sukumar directorial surpassed industry benchmarks set by blockbusters like RRR, Baahubali 2, and KGF 2.

Building on the phenomenal success of Pushpa: The Rise (2019), the sequel takes the saga of Pushpa Raj to new heights. Featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and a stellar supporting cast, with music by Devi Sri Prasad and stunning visuals by Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, Pushpa 2: The Rule released on December 5 world-wide in major pan-Indian languages.
