Many reports suggest that dance choreographer Shaik Kani, who goes by Jani Master, has been permanently expelled from the Dancers and Dance Directors Association, where he previously served as president. Noted media houses reported that he was expelled from the association over the POCSO charges against him. Jani Master was previously suspended from the association, where he had served as president. The association reportedly held an election on December 6, 2024, during which choreographer Joseph Prakash was elected president, marking Jani Master's permanent exit.
On Monday, he posted a video on X and said, "Rumours are being made in the media that I have been permanently expelled from the union, citing unsubstantiated allegations. Don't believe any of that!! No one has the right to take their own decisions and positions by holding elections in an unethical manner, even if my term is still in office. Going legal against those responsible for this. No one can stop those with talent from getting work. A good song is coming from Game Changer in my choreography; you all will definitely like it."
Previously, the I&B Ministry had revoked his National Award, which he was supposed to receive for Thiruchitrambalam (2022).
Jani Master received conditional bail in October from Telangana High Court. Jani Master was arrested by Cyberabad police for threatening and sexually assaulting an assistant choreographer after a case was filed by the victim. After he gave a confession, a POCSO was also filed against the choreographer since the victim was a minor when the abuse started.
Choreographer Jani last worked in Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Stree 2.
