Telugu Film Directors’ Association (TFPA) issued a press release on Saturday, expressing their concern about the subject of review culture on social media, announcing that they plan to address the issue in a formal manner in presence of media. The association is presided over by filmmaker Veera Sanker.
For the same, TFPA shall hold a press conference on Sunday, December 8. The press release read, “We want to bring the issues in the present scenario of specific social media websites critics and youtube reviewers.” The statement also alleged some of the online reviewers of ‘purposefully assassinating new films and film directors' careers, personally as well as professionally.’
The statement further read, “We have been suffering from this unprofessional attitude of some amateur and professional journalists. This leads to killing of the movie and its business.”
It is to be noted that a similar discourse made the news in Tamil film industry, when the Tamil Film Active Producers Association filed a petition at Madras High Court asking the state government to ban reviews on social media and YouTube for the first three days after the release of a film. However, the Court turned down the petition.
