Indra, the iconic action-drama starring Chiranjeevi, Sonali Bendre, and Aarthi Agarwal, is a memorable film for Telugu audiences. Directed by B. Gopal, the film created gigantic box office records, making it an industry hit in 2002.
Reciting a famous dialogue from the film and reflecting on its success, Chiranjeevi shared a special video saying, “The reason for the phenomenal success of Indra is its story. All the people who had worked on the film poured their hearts into it and added life to the output. The immense acceptance the film received among people cannot be overstated. You can randomly pick any scene, and it will glue you to your seats until you watch the whole film. In all of my films, undoubtedly Indra had the most advanced technical values. In one line, Indra is the most perfect example of a commercial film. The primary credit goes to Ashwini Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies. In addition to him, the story by Chinni Krishna, the screenplay by Parachuri Brothers, the evergreen music by Mani Sharma, and our great director B Gopal, who crafted the film to perfection, deserve special praise. I offer my gratitude to all of them. I am extremely glad that after 22 years, the film is getting re-released worldwide.”
He also adds that the intention to showcase this classic film to the younger generation is a great one. On the occasion of Chiranjeevi’s birthday on August 22, Indra is storming the big screens in a special 4K version. Standing apart from regular re-releases, the classic film is set to stay for a week in theatres.
