Committee Kurrollu, produced by Niharika Konidela, under her banner Pink Elephant Pictures, in association with Shree Radha Damodar Studios, is hitting the screens on August 9. Written and directed by debutante filmmaker Yadhu Vamsi, the teaser for the film was released on July 26, and it garnered huge viewership.

Speaking about the film, Niharika Konidela revealed in an interview with journalist Prema, “Committee Kurrollu is more than just a rural drama; the film delves deeper into male friendships in the midst of caste politics. How a prominent village festival, which happens every four years, affects their bond and how these youngsters react to village hierarchy and caste politics will be entertaining to watch for audiences.”

She specifies, “We were extra careful while dealing with caste politics in our film. And we ensured people wouldn’t be offended by anything, especially scenes and dialogues related to the reservation system. Knowing that it’s a sensitive topic, we were careful not to take any stance but just to show life as is."

Talking about her four-year hiatus from acting, she says, “People who approach me have a fear of rejection that she wouldn’t act with a certain actor or debut director. That, in addition to COVID, resulted in my acting break.” She also emphasises that the last four acting projects she took up were from debut filmmakers and expresses her interest in listening to more fresh subjects that would challenge her as an actor.

Niharika's upcoming films also include Madraskaaran, written and directed by Vaali Mohan Das and starring Shane Nigam in his Tamil debut.
