Films should be reviewed only after 3 days of release: Dil Raju

Producer Dil Raju, in a recent media interaction, spoke about the need to implement a ‘cooling off’ period for film reviews for a certain period after a film’s release, in order to prevent negative influence on a film’s box office prospects. Dil Raju is the producer of the recently-released Family Star, which stars Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles.

Speaking to a major media network, Dil Raju stated, “There was a judgement passed recently by Kerala High Court forbidding film reviewers not to publish their reviews until 2 days after a film has been released. Unless a similar initiative is taken here, things for our film industry won’t get better.” The Family Star producer noted that nobody is paying heed to the plight of producers, who are the ones most affected by this. He added, “We make films with such hard work, and it impacts us when such review practices discourage audiences from coming to cinema theatres.”

Dil Raju also noted that this will only lead to increase in number of producers who will resist investing in movies, which will lead to many colossal changes in the industry.  The producer concluded by saying, “This negativity is not correct. If you didn’t like a film, that’s your opinion. But it’s not right to force your opinion on the cine-goers.”

Family Star, which released on April 5, opened to a collection of Rs 5.75 crore on day 1, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. However, the film’s collection witnessed a dip in subsequent days, with a gross collection figure of Rs 3.45 crore and Rs 3.10 crore on day 2 and 3, respectively.
