On the occasion of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan's 81st birthday, Vyjayanthi Movies, the production company backing the much-anticipated Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, shared his character poster from the film.

The much-hyped sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD, stars an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and  Disha Patani, among others.

Sharing his character poster, Vyjayanthi Movies said, "It's an honour to be part of your journey and witness your greatness. Happy Birthday Amitabh Bachchan sir." An aura of mystery surrounds his character as he is dressed as a guru with long hair and a mark on his forehead. He also has a baton in his hand.

The film was announced under the working title Project K in February 2020, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Vyjayanthi Movies. The title and the glimpse of the magnum opus film was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. Filming began in July 2021 in a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music while the film is shot by Djordje Dtojiljkovic.

Kalki 2898 AD is slated to release on January 12, 2024.
