Pushpa: The Rule to hit theatres on this date

The makers of the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rule have announced on Monday that the film will be hitting theatres on August 15, 2024. The film is the second part of director Sukumar's Pushpa duology, which will be releasing two and half years after the release of Pushpa: The Rise (2021).

The announcement comes with a poster where we see a hand, presumably Pushpa's. The hand is slightly bloodied and accessoried with jewellery. Pushpa recently made news for winning two National Awards. Allu Arjun won the Best Lead Actor (Male) Category, while Devi Sri Prasad won an award the Best Music Director Category. Pushpa also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Dhanunjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Jagadish Prathap Bhandari.

Pushpa revolves around the life of the eponymous red sandalwood smuggler. While the first film dealt with his rise from rags to riches in the face of adversity and discrimination on grounds of his parentage, the second film might deal with his struggle to maintain power in the face of Fahadh Faasil's Inspector Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. The makers of the film have released a promotional video titled "Where Is Pushpa?" back in April, where we learn that the story of Pushpa: The Rule moves to 2004. Pushpa Raj is missing, with the people of Tirupati and the adjoining areas in Chittoor revolting in protest while police officers impose Article 144 in the area. A glimpse of Pushpa is finally seen on footage, hiding in the jungle a la Veerappan.

Pushpa is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. The film is written by Sukumar himself, with dialogues by AR Prabhav and Srikanth Vissa. Miroslaw Kuba Brozek is Pushpa's cinematographer, with editing done by Ruben and Karthika Srinivas. Pushpa: The Rule will be releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
