New poster of Kamal Haasan from Kalki 2898 AD out     

On the occasion of Kamal Haasan's 69th birthday, Vyjayanthi Movies, the production company backing the much-anticipated Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, shared a special photo of him from the film. Although one can't decode much from the poster, he looks like a superhero amid a dystopian setup.

Prabhas, Kamal Haasan's co-star in the film, also took to social media to express his admiration, saying, "To the actor, the legend, the icon we’ve grown up idolizing... Happy birthday Kamal Haasan sir. Fortunate to be working with you, sir."

Earlier, on Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan's 81st birthday, the makers shared his character poster from the film. He was dressed as a guru with long hair and a mark on his forehead. He also has a baton in his hand.

The much-hyped sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD, stars an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and  Disha Patani, among others.

The film was announced under the working title Project K in February 2020, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Vyjayanthi Movies. The title and the glimpse of the magnum opus film was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. Filming began in July 2021 in a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music while the film is shot by Djordje Dtojiljkovic.

Kalki 2898 AD is slated to release on January 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is busy with a bunch of projects in his hand. He will be reprising his role as Senapathy in Shanakar's Indian 2 and has Mani Ratnam's KH 234 now titled Thug Life. He will also be headlining H Vinoth's untitled KH 233 film.
